The Main Street Academy Unveils New Innovation Center

On Tuesday, June 14, The Main Street Academy celebrated the opening of its new Innovation Center with families, representatives from the Fulton County School district and Bianca Motley Broom, the Mayor of College Park. The Innovation Center offers 10,000 additional square feet of instructional and learning space for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) initiatives.  The center includes six classrooms, an educator workroom, additional office space, an electronic sports room and restrooms.

The $2 million renovation project was approved by the TMSA’s governing board during the 2020-2021 school year. The Main Street Academy’s Executive Director, Virginia Smith, led the project in partnership with Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌý.

Main Street Academy representatives say the center will help students with improved academic achievement; enhance the school’s overall learning environment; attract new families, students and teachers and allow students to experience updated technology. TMSA’s administrators, teachers and staff are looking forward to introducing new STEAM-based academics at the center this fall. School administrators are also excited about future partnerships with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
