Public charter schools in Georgia now have multiple opportunities to sign up for the SHBP after state lawmakers approved during the most recent legislative session. 91³Ô¹Ï championed SB 59 along with key legislators.

We anticipate a more formalized process in the coming months. For now, here is how Georgia public charter schools can opt into Georgia’s health plan:

New Charter Schools: upon initial approval of its charter

  • Timeframe: 6 months from initial charter approval date
  • Documentation Required: Executed Charter

Existing Charter Schools: upon renewal of its charter or upon the expiration of its current health care plan
