Solomon will attend Yale University.

Solomon is sharp. He is in the top three most vehement students I have served since starting this role in 2016. In a society where it鈥檚 all about the GPA and making the best grades, I was intentional in our conversations of being sincere about scholarship. We discuss the difference between the love of learning and the love for making all A鈥檚. I explained to him that the love of learning is the 鈥渇ather鈥� and the desire to make all A鈥檚 should be the 鈥渟on.鈥� He received this feedback well and even in his deep hunger for knowledge, I am confident that he will pursue his dreams of becoming a successful businessman with fidelity and genuineness. He鈥檚 more than just an exceptionally academically driven student, he鈥檚 also proven to be service-oriented. Raised by two pastors, Solomon learned early on as a Christian the importance of being kind-hearted and making disciples. During his senior year fall break, he embarked on one of the most transformative experiences of his life, when he traveled to Kenya for a mission trip. What I like about Solomon鈥檚 leadership is that he is genuine and always seeks opportunities to leverage his leadership for the betterment of others.

The project-based learning approach to education coupled with the small classes, abundance of resources and comprehensive services provided through the College & Career Readiness team, Solomon has received individualized teaching and counseling to be successful. He is the first male valedictorian and the 2020 STAR student (highest SAT). All of the additional resources and support provided to Solomon throughout his time as a student at Drew Charter school has made a critical difference in his educational career and has helped him achieve his goals of attending Yale University!
