91³Ô¹Ï Pre-Conference Governance Sessions
Time: Monday, March 13 from 1 p.m. – 5  p.m.
Course: Climate & Intercultural Competence

Description:
The 91³Ô¹Ï Charter Schools Conference is the only conference opportunity that can also satisfy annual-training requirements for both locally and SCSC-approved charter schools.  91³Ô¹Ï is a State Board of Education Approved-Training Provider for Charter Schools, allowing 91³Ô¹Ï’s governance training to fulfill legally-required training requirements for both local and state charter schools.  Conference sessions that also fulfill governance training requirements are identified in the Conference Schedule.  Board members are responsible for ensuring the sessions they attend align to their local-governance training plan or SCSC requirements, as applicable.  For more information regarding how to receive governance training credit for 91³Ô¹Ï training, please see the Frequently Asked Questions document here (to be developed).

The Pre-Conference Governance sessions on Monday afternoon will offer charter boards and their members two training opportunities that satisfy legally-required governance training topics.

  1. Whole-Board Training Track– Boards that desire to conduct their Whole Board Training during the conference can attend a special 3-hour board-focused training covering best practices in school governance, performance objectives and progress monitoring, the role and duties of the governing board, as well as the importance of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and legal compliance.
  2. Essentials in Governance Track – Four of 91³Ô¹Ï’s most-popular trainings aligned to governance standards.  This track features courses specifically curated to fulfill training requirements while preparing board members for the conference ahead by discussing critical issues facing charter schools and the roles, responsibilities, and duties of charter board members.

The first hour of the Pre-Conference Governance sessions includes a session option designed for new charter board members to discuss the role of the charter board and best practices in induction, onboarding and mentoring. The second option is a more detailed discussion of the role of charter boards for more veteran board members. Attendees may select either session option during the first hour of the Pre-Conference governance session.
