Georgia Charter Schools Association is pleased to announce that KIPP STRIVE Primary School 
teacher Breana Marie Nicole聽Wofford聽has been selected as the 2018 91吃瓜 Teacher of the Year.
Wofford began her education career at KEPS Preparatory Center in Baltimore, Maryland, serving as the lead preschool teacher. In 2014, Breana returned to Georgia to teach third grade at Atlanta Academy, a private school in Roswell. A few years later, she was hired at KIPP STRIVE Primary School鈥攚here she has worked for the past four years. Wofford currently serves as a fourth-grade math teacher and grade level chair.
According to school leaders, she consistently demonstrates high expectations for the school鈥檚 students. She is committed to using formative assessment strategies on a daily and weekly basis. Wofford concludes each lesson with a daily exit ticket, which she collects to track towards progress and the mastery of standards. Wofford uses the data she collects to inform students of where they are academically and to provide additional support in areas where it鈥檚 most needed for individual students.

Since arriving at KIPP STRIVE Primary, Wofford has been committed to building a positive school environment that pushes leadership and developmentally appropriate independence. She values collaboration and encourages students to love, believe, grow, and achieve.聽
Wofford has a Bachelor鈥檚 of Arts degree in Child Development from Spelman College. She also holds a Master鈥檚 of Science in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University School of Education, and certificates in Teacher Leadership and Urban Education.
In addition to her education career, she worked at the NAACP Headquarters for the Youth ACT-SO Program. While attending college, she was聽active in a number of school and community organizations that included Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Delta Epsilon (honorary educational fraternity), Jump Start Inc., and Girls on the Run.
