Description
Performs custodial maintenance and cleaning within the school building; Performs semi-skilled work in cleaning and maintenance of school buildings聽聽
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs work necessary to maintain the building and grounds in an acceptable condition聽
- Cleans light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, bleachers, blinds and stadium聽
- Utilizes various equipment for scrubbing, buffing and waxing floors聽
- Cleans, disinfects, and restocks assigned restrooms聽
- Prepares for and cleans up after events scheduled in the school building during the day and/or at night聽
- Operates carpet cleaning and maintenance equipment聽
- Moves furniture and equipment within the building as required for various activities as directed by head custodian or principal聽
- Maintains appearance of grounds, including shrubs, grass, parking areas and drives聽
Additional Responsibilities
- Responds to staff requests/concerns in a timely manner聽
- Performs minor repairs as may be required聽
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Custodian III, Principal, School Operations Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Certification/Licensure
- None required; must be willing to acquire additional training as directed by manager

- Minimum of 1-year custodial experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of cleaning methods essential to good cleaning and sanitation practices, supplies and their use聽
- Knowledge of care and cleaning of various types of heating and ventilation equipment聽
- Knowledge of qualities and use of custodial supplies and equipment.聽
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations聽
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, and appropriate use of supplies and equipment聽
- Ability to operate various equipment used for cleaning floors and carpets聽
- Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal聽
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
Physical Demands
- Typically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pulling聽
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate equipment used to clean floors and carpets聽
- Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull in excess of 75 pounds聽
- Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor聽
Salary Range – $18.50 per hour
